The injury rates for rail are starting to getting troubling. I don’t just mean the marginal infrastructure, but also the human error (and human reliance)

Trains are fine. It’s the contact with big unyielding things that’s the problem.

Because they operate many of the passenger trains? Just to put deaths of passengers ( as opposed to deaths of trespassers, suicide and at level crossings) into perspective there were only 158 in the forty years up to 2015.
